Support through the USDA grant has helped ICRAF to provide assistance to governmental and no-governmental institutions in momentous policy reformand accelerated adoption of Alternatives to Slash-and-Burn during a time of drastic economical and political changes in Indonesia and Philippines. The critical issues included resolving the conflicting rights within the state defined forest zone and the implimentation of innovations to increase rural incomes while enhancing environmental objectives.
