The World Agroforestry Centre’s mission is to generate science-based knowledge about the diverse roles trees play in agricultural landscapes and to use its research to advance policies and practices to benefit the poor and the environment. The Centre’s niche lies in conducting research on key questions related to agroforestry and how it can contribute to poverty alleviation and environmental sustainability. Its other roles include Facilitating conceptual frameworks and research principles for agroforestry as a viable land use system;Collating, systematizing and sharing agroforestry knowledge for development;Strengthening the capacity for agroforestry research and education for development; andFacilitating in the formation of communities of practice in agroforestry.
