Light availability to the understorey annual crops in an agroforestry system

Light availability was determined in the understorey annual crop rows at different distances from the tree rows of the three Multipurpose Tree Species (MPTS) under pruned and unpruned conditiond. The MPTS were Gliricidia sepium, Acacia auricukiformis and Acacia mangaium; and the annual crps were upland rice and nwingbean, Rice was row-seeded in alleys bettwen 10 months old trees, and mungbean was seeded in furrows immediately after harverst rice.
