CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Options for a national REDD+ architecture

Key criteria for assessing different institutional options are their overall legitimacy and ability to produce 3E+ outcomes. Four major options for channelling (international) REDD+ finance are projects, funds - independent or within the state administration - and budget support. The mix of these depends crucially on national conditions and the choice of REDD+ actions. Building national REDD+ institutions takes time, and early design might constrain later options. Countries must therefore ensure that the immediate steps taken fit future and more developed solutions.
