Land degradation under slash-and-burn agriculture in the humid forest zone: farmers' perceptions and their management strategies

A field study was initiated in the buffer zone around the campo Ma'an national park, in southern Cameroon. to assess farmers' indigenous knowledge of soil fertility, and their strategies of natural resources. Farmers mentioned the infestation with weeds, occurrence of diseases, low soil moisture retention, soil color an soil density or compaction as indicators of soil quality.
