%X Agroforestry has emerged as an important element of Integrated Natural Resources Management (INRM) in response to signals of a paradigm shift from sector-based to integrated pro poor rural development approaches. Effective collaboration through strategic partnerships and linkages across the research-education-extension continuum remain vital drivers of extensive institutiona-lization of agroforestry across organizations and widespread adoption of agroforestry among small scale farmers. This paper discusses limitations in the continuum that formed the basis for the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), heavy investment in agroforestry development with emphasis on action research, education and extension systems. The pillars of positive change in popularizing agroforestry as a success story of in catalyzing opportunistic training and networks development in Uganda are articulated. The role of regional, national and community based networks in promoting and popularizing agroforestry is specifically highlighted: African Network for Agroforestry Education (ANAFE) formed in 1993, national Uganda Agroforestry Development Network (UGADEN) formed in 2002, and a community based grassroots Two Wings Agroforestry Network (TWAN) formed in 1993.
