Extension material "Pruning technique" on son tra tree

Pruning is a basic and important management measure especially for fruit trees to maintain the yield and quality of fruit and vitality of the trees as well. Son tra is an indigenous multipurpose tree species which provide important income source for Hmong ethic group. The existing son tra plantations in AFLI project area are relatively dense where nutrient and light competition has been an issue. Farmers have never practiced any thinning or pruning operation to reduce the density. Some of the farmers are aware that this is problem and showed interest in learning how to deal with this problem. Thus, training and extension material on pruning technique has been organized/produced for the two son tra producer groups in the project areas.
