The Eastern and Southern Africa (ESAf) region of the World AgroforestryCentre (ICRAF) has the primary role of implementing agroforestry research anddevelopment in the countries as shown in Table 1. We work with multiple partnersincluding national agricultural and forestry research institutions. The social,economic and human development parameters presented in the table clearlyimply that food and nutritional insecurity, low income and poor environmentalmanagement are common problems in these countries.
