AB ecuridaca longipedunculata, Zanha africana, Cassia abbreviata [C. afrofistula], Entada abyssinica, Turraea fischeri, Albizia anthelmintica, Entandrophragma bussei, Combretum zeyheri, Zanthoxylum chalybeum, and Terminalia sericea are the 10 most important medicinal trees in Shinyanga, Tanzania. All tree parts were reported to have medicinal properties but the root was most frequently mentioned. These trees also provide many other products and services such as shade, fuelwood, timber, edibles and construction poles. Domestication of these trees, which have been harvested to near extinction in the region, and incorporation in agroforestry are discussed.
