AB The study report aimed to provide information for understanding the context in which smallholder farmers operate in order to be able to propose interventions that will improve food security and hence enhance their livelihoods. This was done through a household survey that was carried out in Solwezi district. Livelihood analysis focused on household characteristics, institutions, agricultural and livestock production with a focus on village chicken, soya beans and Solwezi beans. Household income, assets, dietary diversity, wealth status and infrastructure were also assessed. Dietary diversity and wealth index was computed as a proxy for food security and poverty levels of households in the area respectively.
