%X Alnus acuminata is a fast-growing, medium-sized tree that grows up to 25 m in height, with a 50-60 cm diameter measured at breast height (DBH). The trunk is cylindrical and straight with a slightly swollen base, and the pyramidal crown has few well-developed branches. The bark is light grey or silver with yellowish lenticels. Leaves are simple, alternate, elliptical, 6-15 cm long, 3-8 cm wide, border double dentate, deciduous or semi-deciduous. The buds are sparsely ferruginousvelutinous. Male and female flowers occur in separate catkins on the same branch.
