Desa Baru berada di Kecamatan Rambutan, Kabupaten Banyuasin, Sumatera Selatan. Sumber penghidupan utama masyarakat berasal dari sektor pertanian. Sebagian besar penduduk desa bekerja di sektor pertanian, peternakan, hortikultura, dan perkebunan. Sedangkan sebagian kecil warga bekerja di sektor perikanan budi daya.
