Smallholder agroforestry systems are seen by some as a possible refuge for lowland rain forest species, but little is known about their potential and limitations to contribute to biodiversity conservation. This thesis is an assessment of the role of rubber agroforests in the conservation of lowland rain forest species in Sumatra.
