CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Pineapple production

Pineapple is essentially grown for its fruit. The fruit is consumed natural or processed. In 2010, national pineapple production was estimated at 136 800 tonnes. The main varieties of pineapple are Cayenne Smooth, Sweet, Sugar Loaf and Queen. Like all fruits, the pineapple contains many interesting nutrients to which is added a high fiber content. It is available all year round with peaks from November to April. The main production areas are Bafia and Awae in the central region, Njombé in the Littoral. By its sweet taste, pineapple is widely consumed as fresh fruit, but also in juice or integrated into exotic foods. It is also used in the food industry for the manufacture of wines, dairy products and pastries. In general, pineapple in Cameroon sells per head or in kg. The price per head is at least 100 F CFA, up to 1500 F CFA maximum. The price per kilogram ranges from 100 to 250 CFA francs. The state helps us in the organization and production of pineapple. After each harvest, you have to save money to buy other seeds.
