Through this study, the following objectives were addressed:Characterization of land use and land cover change in Kayanza province, Elicitation of farmers’ knowledge on tree species, their utilities, their interactions with crops, soil, livestock and water and the role they play in achieving food security; Examination of farmers’ knowledge on factors influencing food security and their coping mechanisms; Identification of the tree management practices employed by farmers and the their knowledge on the reasons behind these practices; Identification of challenges and opportunities for achieving food security
