Forests, trees, and agroforestry landscapes can shift the trajectories of three global crises – biodiversity, climate change, and food security. A focus on equity and value chains is central to this work.
This year, trees gained greater recognition for the role they can play in turning global challenges into opportunities. The Center for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF) delivered the evidence on how to make this happen.

Biodiversity
Biodiversity is not an optional ‘nice-to-have’ – it’s critical to our survival. CIFOR-ICRAF work offers integrated solutions to complex landscape challenges.
Climate
The climate crises threaten life on our planet. We provide analysis of how nature-based solutions can help mitigate climate change and help people adapt to its effects.
Food
Our global food system is deeply flawed. But trees and forests can radically improve food and nutrition security, while also helping to heal our food systems.

* These results are based on annual reporting and initial analysis from a subset of 70 projects implemented since 2017. While these findings suggest a significant reach of the interventions, proper impact evaluations are required to establish causality and confirm these results.
