CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Stéphane Momo

Dr Stéphane Momo, a Cameroonian researcher, completed his PhD in tropical plant ecology at the University of Yaoundé 1 in collaboration with the French Research Institute for Development in Montpellier between 2015 and 2019. His specialization in tropical ecology focuses primarily on forest biometrics, with expertise in quantifying carbon stocks using cutting edge technology such as Terrestrial LiDAR and drones. Recently, he joined the Tropical Forestry Laboratory at Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech for a two-year postdoctoral project. This project, titled Carbon Balance of Silvicultural Enrichments in Production Forests in Cameroon is funded by UE and implemented in Central Africa by CIFOR-ICRAF under the RESSAC programme. Stéphane Momo has over 14 years of experience in biodiversity, carbon stock estimation and sustainable forest management in African forests. He played a key role in setting up a network of 1-ha permanent plots to study forest dynamics (growth, mortality, tree recruitment) and assess their biomass in several countries in the Congo Basin. With nearly seven years of extensive field experience and good biostatistics skills (univariate and multivariate), he has co-authored 23 scientific publications in peer-reviewed international journals. He is fluent in both French and English.
