Academic networking on Agroforestry education: experiences from Africa and Southeast Asia

Academic teachers and institution leaders faced a series of challenges when agroforestry education begun to apear in universities and colleges over the last 20-odd years. This paper highlights as how two academic networks-the African network for agroforestry education (ANAFE), and Southern Asia Network for Agroforestry (SEANAFE)-have addressed this challenges.The paper points out that lessons learned in academic networking on agroforestry are applicable to other cross-cutting areas of study, including plant genetic resources . It further aims to explore similarities and opportunities for collaboration between our networks. Similarities include:.Same players (educational institutions).same back stoppers :The CGIAR, with ICRAF and IPGRI, respectively, as network hubs.Both agroforestry and plant genetic resource (PGR) conservation and use are rapidly evolving fields of study that involves complex and intergrated issues.
