Dr. Behara Satyanarayana is currently working as Associate Professor at the Institute of Oceanography and Environment (INOS), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT, Malaysia) (since 2013). He started his research career as a Mangrove Biologist in India (Andhra University: 1995-2002) and continued studying these wetlands in other Asian countries like Sri Lanka, China and Malaysia as well as in the African countries like Cameroon and The Gambia. His research interests include mangrove ecology, vegetation dynamics, habitat restoration, conservation and management, including Remote Sensing & GIS applications. Being a potential Scientific Collaborator to the University Libre Brussels (Belgium) (since 2010), Dr. Satyanarayana is also managing the Erasmus Mundus excellence labelled ‘Tropical Biodiversity and Ecosystems’ (TROPIMUNDO) Master programme as a Local Coordinator for Malaysia (since 2014). He is a member of the IUCN Mangrove Specialist Group (MSG) (since 2019), and actively engaged in both mangrove flora and faunal (e.g. horseshoe crabs) investigations together with his counterparts from Malaysia and other countries. So far, the academic accomplishments of Dr. Satyanarayana were recognized through several National/International scientific awards/recognitions, 12 Research grants and 85 Peer-reviewed publications.
