CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Regenerative agriculture to value water and soils

Adopting and scaling up regenerative farming practices can help us improve soil health and water services, putting in motion the transition to sustainable food systems. Regenerative farming pratices contribute to good soil health and contribute to ecosystem functions. Direct benefits to farmers are increasingly understood. However, downsteam and large-scale benefits are less understood.

Join this session at World Water Week to learn about soil health and water services, what limits progress, and the opportunities to scale up approaches that safeguard food and water.

Agenda

  • Opening and setting the scene, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)
  • Role of soil health for improved hydrologic function across farming landscapes, Coaltion of Action for Soil Health
  • Managing soils to remediate drought, International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA)
  • Panel discussion with representatives from farmer organisations, business, and government
  • Interactive discussion around solutions to strengthen the link between water management and agriculture
  • Next steps and closing
