Future Mountains in the post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework

The theme for this side event is "Future Mountains in the post 2020 global biodiversity framework" and will include four topics: (1) ecological restoration and dual-carbon economy, (2) germplasm resources and seed industry technology, (3) Ethnobotany and traditional utilization, and (4) urban-rural industrial chain construction and benefit-sharing.

Speakers will emphasize the need to help the global public, scientists and policymakers to better understand the traditional knowledge systems, green ecological wisdom. They will discuss the potential value of distinctive biological resources of the global mountain people, especially the minority in the south-west of China. Speakers will review the opportunities for trade systems and market channels to enhance the ecological and cultural value of mountain regions and enhance biodiversity conservation. They will also examine how indigenous and local communities, women, youth, non-governmental organization, local governments, science and technology, business and financial sectors can be part of the Mountain Future vision and the green development transition.
