International Symposium on promoting sustainable development in Africa through agroforestry: Mapping extent and assessing benefits

This symposium is co-organized by CSE and ZEF to share the scientific results of their research collaboration on the theme « Promoting sustainable development in Africa through agroforestry: Mapping extent and assessing benefits ».

The overall objective of this symposium is to share with stakeholders the scientific results from the research collaboration between CSE and ZEF, and to create a framework for discussion between experts on the theme of « Promoting sustainable development in Africa through agroforestry ».

The specific objectives are to:

  • Share and discuss the methodology and results of the remote sensing-based mapping of past, current and future agroforestry areas in Africa.
  • Share and discuss the methodology and results of assessing the direct ecosystem benefits and indirect socio-economic benefits of agroforestry.
  • Identify collaborative research themes in agroforestry on a national, regional, and continental scale.
  • Identify opportunities for multi-stakeholder cooperation.
