Special feature
Our world is in crisis. The evidence is clear that humans are causing climate change, biodiversity loss, land degradation and a range of interconnected problems that are putting life on earth at risk. At the heart of these challenges is our broken food system, affecting all of us through access to nutrient-rich food that supports health and wellbeing, through providing employment and income, through ensuring that our landscapes are and remain productive in the future.
Current efforts of trying to tackle these challenges independently and in isolation means we are missing opportunities to implement and scale up successful solutions for smallholder farmers and forest-dependent and pastoral communities.
Nature-positive solutions backed by scientific evidence for people and the environment offer an alternative. These are transdiciplinary science-based initiatives that are locally embedded and focused on developing sustainable and socially equitable food systems that mitigate and adapt to climate change, remedy biodiversity loss and restore degraded land.
In this special series, CIFOR-ICRAF will highlight the research, knowledge and people working on initiatives around the world to help solve this food crisis. Join this discussion.
CIFOR-ICRAF and UN Food Systems Summit
Event: Pre-Summit of the UN Food Systems Summit
