More than 30 years after the Earth Summit in Rio (Brazil), trust in the impact of environmental policies can only be kept alive if we finally transform promises into tangible results beyond silos. The idea of breaking silos is not a novel one—climate, biodiversity and land are all interconnected in the real world. But what is needed to bring all the relevant policy commitments to the same table, especially in an era of rising conflict? How can doing so help us hold decision-makers accountable and ensure that the commitments made under the various conventions translate into meaningful action?
