Mary Njenga

Dr. Mary Njenga is a Research Scientist, Bioenergy at World Agroforestry (ICRAF) based in Nairobi, Kenya. Dr. Njenga’s work involves projects’ designing, fund raising, implementation including impact assessment, gender integration and inclusion and management of transdisciplinary research and action processes and application of circular bioeconomy (CBE) approach. Her work includes sustainable refugee and host community landscapes. She works on generating knowledge on bioenergy technology and innovations and their implications on agroecosystems, environment including climate change and livelihoods. She is also involved in capacity development for communities, policy makers and scientists. She is passionate about communicating science and has produced over 150 knowledge products including journal papers, books, book chapters, strategies, training manuals and videos, technical and policy briefs, working papers and technical magazine articles. She is directly contributing to policy development through working closely with county and national governments. Dr. Njenga’s aim is to contribute to improving food, nutrition and energy security, health, eliminating poverty, gender equality, sustainable ecosystems services, mitigating climate change and sustainable rural and urban development.
