Environmental and MEAL Specialist
Overview
This position will provide technical and scientific support to Benin Country office.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for monitoring
evaluation and learning system of projects in country office including
baseline, mid-terms and endline assessment, project log frame review,
monitoring tools development, field data collection analysis, reporting, data
filing and archiving, assessing progress toward the integration of Nationally
Determined Contribution (NDC) into communal development plans (CDP), and
pre-feasibility study on ecosystem-based adaption (EbA) options implementation
readiness project sites.
- Support setting up digital
platform on climate data, climate information, green climate investments and
portfolio database and related project data in Benin.
- Developed manual and guide on
data collection and monitoring and strategies to better integrate NDC chapter
in the CDP at local level.
- Contribute to identification,
prioritization, and assessment of low-carbon emission technology building on
country Technologies Needs Assessment and Technologies Action Plan (TNA/TAP) to
boost private sector investment.
- Elaborate training modules and
support organization and training sessions and workshops and reporting on i)
Economic Interest Groups (GIE) promotion of NTFP for sustainable exploitation
of forest and tree crops, ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) and climate
resilient agricultural techniques, ii) the use and implementation of the CDP
that integrate NDC chapters.
- Produce monthly activities
planning and reporting and contribute to donor quarterly narrative reporting.
- Support resource mobilization
efforts with country team with participation in EoI, CN and proposal
development.
- Contribute to scientific
publications, technical notes, and climate change and EbA policy and
information briefs for sector ministries and private and public sector
stakeholders.
- Performs other duties within
their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of
the CIFOR-ICRAF Benin Office.
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years’ experiences on Forest and rangeland management; Management
of forest inventory work; Experience in GFC projects implementation; Mastering
of forest management plans with proven knowledge on Geographic Information
system (GIS) and mapping.
- Experiences on Ecosystem-based adaptation and climate smart agricultures
and agroecological practices would be an advantage.
- Experience in an NGO or international organization environment.
- Understanding Central and Northern Benin’s national languages and use of
the same to animate for community interactions and animations.
Education, knowledge and experience

Terms and conditions
•This is a Locally Recruited position. CIFOR-ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in local currency, commensurate with skills and experience.
•The duty station will be in Abomey-Calavi, Benin CIFOR-ICRAF Offices.
