Accelerating adoption of agroforestry in western Kenya project
The Accelerating Adoption of Agroforestry in Western Kenya project, also known as the Triple A project, innovatively uses the asset-based community-driven development (ABCD) approach to scale sustainable adoption of best practices in agroforestry and agriculture. It builds on the Making Agroforestry Work for Smallholder Farmers project, a ‘pilot-to-proof of concept’ ABCD project implemented between 2011 and 2014.
The Triple A project developed and implemented the Building Assets and Agency process, which combines ABCD with participatory value chain analysis and farmer-to-farmer extension. The project aims for the development and uptake of context-specific adaptation and mitigation options based on local identities, interests and preferences. It combines general capacity development with tailor-made best practice trainings selected by individual project groups and adapted to their respective context.
