Découvrez les évènements passés et à venir dans le monde entier et en ligne, qu’ils soient organisés par le CIFOR-ICRAF ou auxquels participent nos chercheurs.

CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Landcare opportunities in Namibia and at bigger picture

Namibia faces significant environmental challenges including land degradation, loss of biodiversity, and climate change. 70% of Namibia's population directly depends on land for their livelihood. Past sustainability initiatives have had only short-term impacts because activities stopped when projects ended. Namibia needs a bottom-up, community-driven approach to land management like Landcare to empower communities to sustainably manage degraded lands. Landcare approaches could help address pressing issues through community-led fire management, bush encroachment control, and rangeland restoration. Establishing an International Year of Landcare could help focus global efforts on community-driven solutions to land management challenges.
