This paper reviews conservation policies and documents the use of conservation forest by the local communities surrounding Gunung Halimun-Salak National Park (GHSNP). The aim of this paper is to provide initial background on policy issues in Gunung Halimun -Salak National Park as an initial step to find possibilities for the local communities to use/access/manage conservation forest in the National Park. By definition the goal of conservation forest is to secure continously the availability of biodiversity by maintaning and improving the quality of its diversity and value.
