Land degradation threatens the livelihoods and the food and nutrition security of the poorest, most vulnerable smallholder farmers and pastoralists. Restoration has the potential to build ecosystem and livelihood resilience Restoration in agricultural landscapes requires a systems approach, from tackling soil degradation, to addressing constraints to crop productivity, to encouraging on-farm crop diversity (including the incorporation of multipurpose trees in farmland), to improving the agency of women in household decision making. This video highlights the implementation of farmer-centered land restoration to scale ecosystem restoration in agricultural landscapes in the drylands of Kenya.
