Farmers learning from farmers

Taking farmers from one area to another to learn from other farmers is an important part of ICRAF The World Agroforestry Centre's action-research approach. Such activities are called 'cross visits'. In this video, we follow farmers newly involved with the Indonesian Rural Economic Development project in Sumba, Indonesia who traveled from their dry and rocky island home to the larger, neighbouring island of Sulawesi. There, they met other farmers who had been working with the Agroforestry and Forestry in Sulawesi project for nearly five years. The Sumbanese emphasised the importance to them of the knowledge they gained. The Indonesian Rural Economic Development project is a partnership between World Vision, Lutheran World Relief and ICRAF The World Agroforestry Centre. It is supported by Australian Aid. Agroforestry and Forestry in Sulawesi: Linking Knowledge to Action project is led by ICRAF in partnership with the Center for International Forestry Research and national and local partners. It is supported by Global Affairs Canada.
